You know that space between night and day? Sleep and awake? Where any thing you dream seems possible and within reach. Where self doubt and worry is nonexistent. Where you are entirely yourself and feel as if you can take on the world. That is the feeling and journey I was taken on while creating this piece. I named it Eos after the goddess who opens the gates and the bringer of dawn.
By using the different shades of magenta for the background, I wanted to create the feeling of the sky at dawn. That moment just before the sun peers over the horizon creating and setting the tone for the beauty that is to come.
For the flowing ribbons I used the deep midnight blue and allowed it to coalesce with the deep magenta to embody that moment in time where the dark of night starts to meet the light of day. The ribbons are then layered with light blue and cyan. As these colors start to mingle with the darker ones, it helps to create the depth and bring about the realization of the daily dance that the colors of night and early morning create. The final layer in the ribbon sequence is where the brightness of the coral and shine of the gold bring not only character to the piece but also convey the impression that the sun is starting to peek through, giving us its greetings. This painting can brighten up any room and soul. It shows the complexity of the female essence, mother nature, beauty in chaos and brings an air of enchantment that I hope grants the viewer courage and spirit.
