Acrylic on Canvas
While I was creating this painting I was overtaken with a wave of optimism and a yearning for what the future holds. To me this piece felt like it brings luck, prosperity and inspiration. So naming it after the goddess of luck seemed fitting. For the background I used varying shades of blue that include aquamarine, ocean, sky and ultra light blue. I decided to use a rough blending technique for the varying shades of blue so that the brush strokes would remain visible and I could play with the opposing movements between the background and the flowing ribbons in the fore front.
For the flowing ribbons I used all the same colors as the background with the addition of coral and gold. By using the same colors, it allowed me to create a flowing movement for the ribbons but also to create contrast with the movement of the background. This also helps to keeps the painting harmonious and by using the bright colors in the ribbons, it gives it the flourish and statement they need.
